Making Your Window Blinds Safe for Children

There are certain measures you have to keep in mind once you have decided to put up blinds in the house with special attention being focused on the safety of the children in the household. It is not an isolated case to hear of kids getting choked to death upon encountering looped curtains or blind cords in some random home annually. Here are certain ways to keep these freak accidents from happening to your family.

The most basic thing to remember when putting up blinds is to keep the chains and cords far from any little tot’s reach. To do that, you might consider securing those hanging chains with cord tidies or cleats. In lieu with that, avoid putting sofa or other furniture near the blind’s cords as the kids might climb up on them and be able to grab those dangling chains. Finally, make sure to put in plastic break connector, a small clip holding two ends of the chain together. These necessary accessories are designed to break under pressure and this can ultimately prevent mishaps from happening to kids who are too curious for their own good.
